Turnabout Sisterhood (Morgan and Misty)

Yet another one of my sketches cleaned up, painted and uploaded. My depiction of a young Misty and Morgan Fey (Morgan is on the left, Misty is on the right).

I have been working on a fanfic for the Ace Attorney series that focuses on the previous generation-to-Phoenix Wright's and I have always enjoyed speculating about the Fey clan. Any fan of the series will know that Morgan and Misty are anything but close. Misty being chosen to be the Master of the Kurain over her elder sister Morgan was the source of great resentment between the two. It marked a break in a tradition that had gone on for generations where the first born daughter always succeeded and left Morgan as a member of a powerless branch family. It was made even worse by the fact that ten years later Misty's involvement in DL-6 Incident led to the downfall of the Kurain tradition and Misty's own disappearance. What followed years later was a series of plots by Morgan to claw back the Kurain's Mastership back to her family line, first by trying to have her niece Maya sent away for murder and then by outright killing her.

There has never really been any background on what the sisters' relationship was like before Morgan was passed over for Misty when the title of leader came up. While I doubt the sisters ever enjoyed the closeness that Mia and Maya do, there is no reason why any bad blood would exist between them before Misty was chosen. Therefore I like to think that they were at least on civil terms and, perhaps, Misty would have preferred to have not become Master. Hell, I can't help but feel the fact she had Mia at such a young age (only nineteen) indicates she was already putting together a life for herself. As for Morgan, I think any woman who would calculate to murder her own niece and treat her youngest daughter more as a commodity to get power than a loved child, she was probably a sociopath who hadn't had reason to snap yet...

In other words, guess what I was listening to when I was initially drawing Morgan. Need I say more?
